Director of Engineering

Our client, a leading manufacturer highly respected in the industry for designing, manufacturing, and marketing products globally, is seeking a dynamic Director of Engineering to lead new product development efforts. As the Director of Engineering, you will oversee the full lifecycle of new product development from concept to launch, ensuring processes are followed and resources are effectively managed. This leadership role requires a strong mechanical engineering background and extensive experience managing new product development teams in a manufacturing environment. In addition to technical expertise, exceptional communication, conflict-resolution, and change management skills are essential to shape the future of the team and foster collaboration across departments.

Responsibilities include leading new product development across engineering, managing resources, timing, budgeting processes for successful launches. You will also oversee manufacturing support for existing product portfolios focusing on quality improvements and cost reductions while driving the Phase Gate process for NPD. Collaborating with cross-functional teams is crucial to ensure alignment and fostering collaboration.

This position requires at least 5 years of experience in New Product Development (NPD) with mechanical testing/validation processes and 7+ years of people management experience. A degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is preferred along with expertise in APQP methodology or similar product development processes. Strong communication skills are necessary for presenting to upper management and maintaining team cohesion through change processes.
