What you’ll contribute to:

To manage the day-to-day responsibilities of the Finance Team. To provide effective business partnering services to internal and external stakeholders that satisfy all regulatory and internal customer needs, taking us to the next stage of transformational change in automation, efficiencies and financial insights.

This role will assume responsibility for all financial and regulatory reporting within the QAL Group along with many of the internal and systems controls within the group. This role has a team of 13 in the areas of financial accounting, management accounting, tax, transactional accounting, procurement, fixed assets, cash management and business partnering functions. A comprehensive knowledge across all areas is required.

Qualifications and Experience required:
Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Commerce or Business (essential)
Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline (essential)
CA/CPA qualified (essential)
Minimum 10 years’ experience in management roles in large corporate and smaller organisations
Proven experience in influencing and managing key stakeholders, including senior executives and board (exposure to CFO level is essential)
Experience in the aviation or infrastructure industry (desirable)
Strong working knowledge and understanding in capital management, including project capital and ongoing capital processes
Demonstrated experience in driving continuous improvement initiatives
Demonstrated experience in technical accounting functions
Robust ability in managing a professional finance team of at least 10 people


Key deliverables/responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Manage the preparation of all financial reporting including monthly and annual reports, cash flow statements and regulatory reports for key stakeholders
Manage the annual financial statement reporting process including liaising with external auditors, tax advisors, valuers and internal corporate services. Present the annual financial statement to the CFO and Risk and Audit Committee for approval
Board and Shareholder reporting including monthly board and Risk and Audit committee papers
Build and embed a procurement function
Support the strategic planning process and underlying financial analysis a quarterly scorecard reporting
Effectively manage, motivate and develop the Finance team
Ensure the accounting function is delivered in accordance with standards and pronouncements of the Australian Accounting Standards Board
Oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors ensuring all audit issues are resolved, and all compliance issues are met, and the preparation of the annual statutory financial statements is in accordance with Australian legal requirements
Manage the regular valuation of the airport assets for reporting purposes including land tax
