**Role Overview: Senior Communications Officer**
As a Senior Communications Officer at NATURAL STATE, you will be instrumental in leading our communications strategy with a primary focus on scientific, climate-related, and nature restoration initiatives. The ideal candidate will significantly contribute to enhancing our brand presence by driving engagement and effectively communicating the impact of our work on preserving and restoring natural ecosystems. This role demands a unique blend of communication expertise, strategic acumen, as well as an in-depth understanding of climate science, nature restoration, and related scientific subjects.
**Responsibilities:**
1. **Strategic Communications Plan:** Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with NATURAL STATE's mission objectives emphasizing climate action and nature restoration.
2. **Content Development:** Generate compelling content across various platforms such as press releases, articles, social media support materials, educational content while ensuring alignment with global approaches on climate adaptation and mitigation.
3. **Brand Growth Strategy & Design Development:** Collaborate across teams to design brand growth strategies that boost visibility among key stakeholders like donors, scientific communities while maintaining consistent messaging across all platforms.
4. **Media Relations:** Build relationships with media outlets focusing on environmental science to promote NATURAL STATE’s programs effectively.
5. **Monitoring & Evaluation:** Establish metrics for assessing communication initiatives' impact while adapting strategies based on performance feedback.
6. **Crisis Communication:** Manage communication during crises or sensitive environmental issues ensuring organizational integrity is preserved.
**Minimum Requirements:**
- Bachelor's degree in Communications or related field; Master’s preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience in communications focusing on climate science or environmental issues.
- Proven track record in executing brand growth strategies within nonprofit organizations.
- Strong understanding of climate change policies alongside ecological restoration principles.
- Proficiency in digital communication tools including social media platforms.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment managing multiple projects concurrently.
