Reporting directly to the Communications Unit Team Leader, the Junior Communications Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting communication and advocacy strategies that enhance awareness of UN Women among partners, media outlets, and the general public. The ideal candidate will adopt a client-oriented approach while providing technical assistance to ensure impactful outreach efforts that document UN Women's initiatives effectively. Key responsibilities include managing social media platforms with engaging content creation, supporting multimedia content development like videos and stories for social media platforms, monitoring digital performance metrics for audience engagement trends.
Moreover, the Junior Communications Consultant will provide on-the-ground support during events by offering live social media coverage, liaising with media personnel, documenting events through photography and video clips for dissemination purposes. Additionally, responsibilities extend to graphic design tasks such as creating visually compelling designs for social media posts or reports aligned with UN Women branding standards. The consultant will also contribute to knowledge sharing initiatives by organizing webinars or collaborative platforms aimed at fostering learning within the organization.
This position requires a candidate with at least 1 year of experience in communications and advocacy strategies implementation along with proficiency in computer applications like Microsoft Office and Adobe design software packages. A Bachelor's degree in Communications or related fields is preferred. Fluency in English and Kiswahili is essential while knowledge of any other UN official language would be advantageous.
