Job Purpose: To develop and implement aafaq’s marketing, promotions and advertising strategies to ensure the right marketing mix, enhancement of aafaq’s image among target customer segments and to contribute towards the achievement of aafaq’s Mission and business targets.


Accountabilities:

Marketing Expertise and Strategy

· Provide leadership and professional advice on marketing to ensure aafaq’s business objectives are supported with the most appropriate and effective Digital, Advertising, Communications and Creative design and strategy.
· Formulate the marketing and promotions strategy and plans for the year in line with the business objectives in order to support the achievement of aafaq’s Mission and business targets.
· Brief and discuss media strategy, branding, pricing, positioning and advertising concepts with the advertisement agency to decide on a suitable theme, budget and media mix for the advertisement campaigns.
· Work closely with Chief Business Officer and Chief Customer Officer to coordinate sales and marketing efforts to boost brand awareness.
Corporate Communications and Media Relations

· Develop effective corporate communication strategies both external and internal to support the achievement of marketing objectives within the overall marketing strategies.
· Manage the flow of information to the public, promote positive public image and reputation of sustainability, and foster relationships with strategic stakeholders, advocates, and key persons.

· Oversee the provision of media support to the organisation as needed and assist in communication of strategies or messages from senior leadership.
· Supervise, monitor and follow up on all corporate news published in the media.
· Handle press conferences and all media requests for interviews, statements etc and oversee the participation of aafaq’s spokesperson in the media.
Internal Communications

· Oversee the internal communication plans to keep employees informed and engaged.
· Oversee and manage the preparation and publication of the in-house newsletter, periodicals, and internal memos to strengthen the internal channel of communication.
Crisis Communication

· Oversee and implement crisis communication plans to address potential reputational risks.
· Serve as a spokesperson during crisis situations, providing timely and accurate information to stakeholders.
Corporate Branding

· Oversee and ensure aafaq’s brand message is strong and consistent across all channels and marketing efforts in events, email campaigns, web pages and promotional material.
Promotions and Advertising

· Oversee the implementation of aafaq’s promotional campaigns aimed at selected target segments so that aafaq is able to obtain maximum advantage out of these schemes.
· Decide on appropriate events, exhibitions and community activities for participation and sponsorship by aafaq and ensure efficient management of these events to enhance aafaq’s image.
· Review options and recommend choice of advertising agency for aafaq to achieve cost-effective impact for campaigns.
· Oversee the selection and design of suitable merchandising, corporate gifts and give-aways that reflect aafaq’s image effectively.
Market Research

· Review and recommend choices of appropriate agencies for commissioned market research and surveys, discuss requirements and monitor the data and analysis delivered to ensure appropriateness and quality.
· Provide information on market trends, consumer behaviour, competition and the business environment, conduct and commission surveys to facilitate product development and promotion plans.
· Monitor competition with regard to acquisitions, pricing changes and new products and features to maintain competitive advantage.
· Study market trends and the business environment to identify opportunities and ideas for new products, new features, product concepts and pricing.
· Identify opportunities to reach new market segments and expand market share to maximise business growth and profitability.
· Contribute towards design and launch of new products in conjunction with the Business Department to satisfy the varied needs of the customers.
Consumer Education and Awareness

· Establish the company’s Consumer Education and Awareness (CEA) unit and develop and document the unit’s policies and procedures ensuring the unit’s staff have clear objectives.

· Monitor the company’s Consumer Education and Awareness (CEA) unit to ensure continuous educational and awareness programs for consumers and the general public.

· Test the content and delivery of all Company initiatives before customer/public release on a broadly representative sample of audience to ensure each initiative is suitable for its target audience and achieves its objectives.

· Conduct an annual review of all Consumer Education and Awareness initiatives to assess their effective impact and reach.
Corporate Social Responsibility

· Develop, organise and implement Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, activities and annual plan in alignment with aafaq’s societal mission and strategic objectives.
Management

· Manage the activities of the Marketing Department within aafaq and ensure appropriate oversight through control functions, management processes, corporate governance and culture.

· Guide, direct, develop, motivate and manage the performance of all direct reports in line with the Performance Management System to assist in the realisation of their potential and to enhance their knowledge-based skills.

· Maintain a strong marketing team through ongoing professional development, with sufficient knowledge, skills, experience and professional qualifications to meet the requirements of the Marketing Department.
· Propose and agree staffing plans and financial budgets including the number of specialists while ensuring that the team meets current and future needs in numbers, competencies, motivation and performance.
Budgets

· Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly and annual budgets for the Marketing Department.
· Prepare, propose and manage advertising and promotional activity budgets and costs to ensure the Department and the selected agencies deliver a cost-effective service.
Analytics and Reporting

· Oversee, monitor and measure the effectiveness of Communication and Promotional efforts using data and analytics tools.
· Prepare monthly reports for CEO highlighting departmental activities and achievements against marketing targets including the Happiness Index and related activities.
Compliance and Regulations

· Ensure all Marketing activities comply with industry regulations, company policies, and legal requirements.
Professional Development

Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organisations.


Education/Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business Management; MBA would be an advantage.


Experience

A minimum of 10 years’ increasingly senior Marketing experience of which 5 years in a bank or financial institution
At least 5 years leading a Marketing department in the banking and financial sector in the UAE
Experience running successful marketing campaigns


Skills

Excellent spoken and written communication, in both English and Arabic
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
Planning and organising
Negotiation skills
Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms
Proficiency in social media management and other communication tools
Familiarity with UAE corporate communication, advertising and sales promotion environment, roster of relationships and contacts with the press and social media
Strong knowledge of UAE financial sector products, services, and industry trends
Familiarity with compliance and regulatory requirements in the financial industry
