The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a senior executive responsible for managing all aspects of the Company’s financial, pricing and IT strategy and operations. This role involves strategic financial planning, budgeting, financial analysis, risk management, along with functional responsibility for the Company’s pricing and IT functions, and reporting to key stakeholders, including the board of directors and shareholders. The CFO also plays a key role in the Company's strategic planning process and provides advice to the CEO and other senior executives.



Responsibilities:



Financial Strategy and Planning:



Develop and implement of the Company’s financial strategy to support its growth and long-term objectives.
In collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and senior leadership team, work to align financial goals with the overall business strategy of the Company.
Lead the annual budget exercise in consultation with the CEO and senior leadership team ensuring that, once approved by the Company’s board of directors, there are controls in place to adequately manage spend vs. budget.
Identify opportunities for cost optimisation and revenue generation.
Educate the senior leadership team and their business managers to raise their level of knowledge and application of financial discipline in their management of their functional areas.


Financial Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports to the CEO, senior leadership team and the Company’s board of directors, and external stakeholders, as required.
Analyse financial data and trends to provide insights and recommendations for improving financial performance.
Responsible for the preparation and control of the Company’s operating budgets.
Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
Monitors financial performance by measuring and analysing results, initiating corrective actions and minimising the impact of variances.




Cash Management and Treasury:
Manage cash flow to meet operational needs and financial obligations.
Develop and maintain relationships with financial institutions and stakeholders. Risk Management:
Identify and mitigate financial risks, including market fluctuations, liquidity issues, and regulatory changes.
Develop and implement risk management strategies to protect the organisation's assets.


New Business Development:
Oversee investment strategies to optimise returns while managing risk.
Contribute to business development by the creation of business cases, business development plans, and new business opportunities and proposals for capital expenditure and investments (i.e., in infrastructure, technology, equipment, systems or other assets and resources for the smooth functioning of the business).
Evaluate potential M&A opportunities, conduct due diligence, and participate in negotiations.
Manage fundraising efforts, including debt and equity financing, if applicable.


Pricing and Revenue Optimisation
Develop and implement of the Company’s pricing and revenue strategy to support its growth and long-term objectives.
In collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and senior leadership team, work to align pricing and revenue optimisation goals with the overall business strategy of the Company.
Support the Company’s commercial division in the provision of competitive pricing strategies.
Identify opportunities for revenue optimisation and revenue generation.
Educate the senior leadership team and their business managers to raise their level of knowledge as to pricing and revenue optimisation in their management of their functional areas.


Information Technology
Develop and implement of the Company’s IT strategy to support its growth and long-term objectives.
In collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and senior leadership team, work to align the IT goals with the overall business strategy of the Company.
Identify opportunities for automation wherever possible.
Educate the senior leadership team and their business managers to raise their level of knowledge as to IT in their management of their functional areas.


Compliance and Regulatory Affairs:
In collaboration with the Company’s Legal Affairs and Compliance teams, ensure that the Company is compliant with all legal and regulatory requirements.
Actively stay informed about changes in accounting standards and financial regulations.
Ensure the day-to-day operational issues are optimised whilst maintaining profit margins and alignment to international best practice.


Audit Oversight:
Coordinate external audits and work closely with auditors to ensure accurate and timely audit reports.
Coordinate annual statutory accounts and financial statements in accordance with local regulatory accounting standards and guidelines, including the production of financial reports for the CEO and the Company’s board of directors.


Team Leadership:
Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance teams.
Foster a culture of financial discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement.
In collaboration with Human Resources, recruit, train, and continuously develop finance professionals as needed.
Create an open and transparent culture aligned to Company values within the team.
Support the CEO by representing the Company to the community, government bodies and local authorities and to maintain a highly favourable image in local and regional markets.




Skills, Experience and Qualifications:



Education Qualification:
Master’s Degree holder or an ACA/MBA with specialisation in Finance.

Work Experience:
Proven experience as a CFO or in a senior financial leadership role.
10 years experience leading a similar function of Finance within a large organisation.


Skills:
Able to lead a range of functions and have the breadth of experience with planning and operational responsibilities.
Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, accounting policies and practice.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Excellent knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, and best practices – specifically, financial planning and strategy, managing profitability, promoting process improvement, forecasting, corporate finance, developing budgets, financial skills.
Exceptional strategic, leadership and change management skills – specifically, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong financial analysis and modelling skills.
Creative and innovative leader, with excellent influencing and problem-solving skills.
Strong ability to organise and mentor teams as well as manage programs with a keen attention to detail and quality.
Project management skills and the ability to coordinate and oversee several projects concurrently across multiple functional departments.
