GMS Leadership, a prominent player in the maritime industry in the United Arab Emirates, is seeking a highly skilled Group Financial Controller to join their dynamic team. As the Group Financial Controller reporting directly to the Group CFO, your primary responsibility will be overseeing the consolidation process for the group. This entails ensuring accurate and timely consolidation of financial statements for multiple entities and business units. You will collaborate with regional finance teams to gather and validate financial data, conduct inter-company reconciliations, and prepare consolidated financial statements for presentation to executive leadership and external stakeholders. Additionally, you will lead the preparation and analysis of monthly financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Your role will also involve managing general ledger (GL) operations by overseeing month-end and year-end closing processes. You will review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, as well as implement best practices for GL management such as chart of accounts maintenance and cost center allocations. Furthermore, you will evaluate existing financial systems and processes related to consolidation and GL management to identify areas for improvement. Driving initiatives to enhance automation, standardization, efficiency in reporting operations will be crucial.
To excel in this position, you must possess a Chartered Accountant qualification with over 10 years of post-qualification experience. Experience within the shipping sector is highly desirable. Proficiency in financial reporting tools like ERP systems, BI tools (e.g., Power BI), Microsoft Excel is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to manage month-end/year-end close processes effectively in a multi-entity environment is essential.
