As the Director of Engineering at Appleton Finn, you will play a crucial role in overseeing all engineering functions within the organization. You will lead a team of engineers and technical experts, providing direction and mentorship to drive manufacturing efficiency, quality, and safety across our facility. Working closely with cross-functional teams such as production, R&D, maintenance, and quality control, you will develop and execute engineering strategies to ensure smooth operations while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Key responsibilities include managing the engineering department, developing engineering strategies for operational goals alignment, collaborating with senior management on technological advancements, overseeing design implementation for manufacturing systems/equipment maintenance compliance with regulatory standards (FDA, USDA), leading capital expenditure projects for new installations/equipment upgrades evaluating/ improving operational processes cost-effectively maintaining high-quality standards fostering continuous improvement/innovation within the team managing relationships with vendors/external partners reporting key performance indicators/engineering metrics/initiatives.

Ideal candidates for this position should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Master’s preferred), along with at least 10 years of engineering experience in manufacturing environments (5 years in leadership roles). A strong background in dairy product manufacturing processes/systems is essential. Additionally, candidates should have proven project management skills including budgeting/scheduling/team management knowledge of regulatory standards/quality assurance processes exceptional problem-solving/analytical/decision-making skills strong communication/interpersonal skills experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean/Six Sigma) is beneficial ability to lead/motivate teams towards high performance/innovation.
