Communications Director

We are currently seeking a Communications Director to spearhead all communication, marketing, and publicity efforts for Empower Project and its entities. In this role, you will collaborate with the Executive Director to develop a comprehensive communication strategy across various channels such as social media, newsletters, press releases, and donor/partner facing materials. The ideal candidate will ensure that our message resonates with stakeholders while positioning Empower Project as a thought leader in relational organizing.

As a key member of the leadership team, the Communications Director will be responsible for creating and managing all communication materials, overseeing content creation for our website and social media profiles, cultivating relationships with media entities, and contributing to crisis communications when necessary. Additionally, you will play a vital role in promoting our organizational image externally while actively advocating for our values and DEI goals throughout the organization.

Successful candidates for this position will have experience in creating messaging for mission-driven organizations, strong writing skills across various formats like memos and press releases, as well as a background in political communications work. Candidates with cultural competency skills, experience collaborating across departments and with external partners are highly encouraged to apply. A competitive compensation package of $90,000 per year plus benefits is offered to the selected candidate.

• 2+ cycles of experience in political Communications work
