As the Director of Backend Engineering at Farther, you will oversee and expand our backend engineering team responsible for developing the foundational services and infrastructure that drive our entire wealth management platform. Your team will be tasked with building and maintaining our core platform, investment tools, and trading infrastructure using modern technologies like TypeScript, Bun, and CockroachDB. You will lead the team in creating scalable and reliable services supporting client onboarding to portfolio management. In this role, you will shape technical strategy, mentor engineering leaders, and play a crucial part in scaling both our technology stack and our team.
The ideal candidate for this position should have over 12 years of engineering experience with expertise in distributed systems and backend architecture. Additionally, 5-10 years of experience managing fast-paced backend technical teams is required along with a deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, database design, system architecture, financial markets operations, trading workflows among other skills. We are looking for individuals who exhibit qualities such as grit, bias for action, adaptability to change while excelling in communication across technical and business contexts.
