Senior Director, Data Engineering

As the Senior Director of Data Engineering at GoFundMe/Classy, you will lead a team responsible for providing data engineering and analytics solutions across the entire organization. Your role will involve collaborating with stakeholders to understand their data needs, translating product requirements into actionable insights for your team, and owning strategic business growth initiatives related to data and AI products. You will oversee the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines and warehousing solutions while implementing best practices for data management.

The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience designing distributed data systems and 5 years managing business intelligence or analytics teams. Proficiency in SQL and ETL processes is required along with experience in modern data architectures like Data Lake and Data Mesh. Strong leadership skills are essential for recruiting, leading, and growing high-performing technical teams. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is necessary for this role.

• 7+ years industry experience designing and building distributed data systems
• 5+ years of experience supporting or managing a business intelligence or analytics team
• 10+ years of experience in data warehouse technical architectures
• Completed bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field
• Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in a relevant field
• Strong understanding of cloud-based data solutions (e.g., Snowflake, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
