Head of Engineering, UAV Payloads

The Chief Engineer role at AEVEX involves overseeing all engineering activities within the assigned product portfolio to ensure organizational objectives are met. As the primary technical point of contact for customers and internal teams, the Chief Engineer drives design decisions, establishes team workflows, and resolves technical conflicts. This position requires collaborating with R&D teams to integrate new capabilities into existing products and drive innovation for new products. The Chief Engineer also manages staffing, resource allocation, and partnerships with Engineering Services while fostering the professional growth of the engineering team through mentoring and tailored development plans.

Key responsibilities include technical leadership by overseeing all technical designs, co-chairing governance boards for proper evaluation of designs and changes, integrating new capabilities into products, supervising engineering teams for high-quality execution of activities, optimizing resources across projects, ensuring regulatory compliance, documenting key decisions for traceability, aligning engineering efforts with portfolio goals for future product development and sustainment. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering (Master's preferred), at least 10 years of relevant experience in engineering roles with expertise in aerospace engineering and technology development.
