As the Director of Engineering, you will report directly to the Head of Engineering Services and play a crucial role in shaping our service offerings for clients. Your primary responsibilities will include collaborating with clients on their technical and mechanical engineering needs, providing technical expertise, supporting Energy Efficiency Reports, and leading strategic planning for the division. Additionally, you will oversee a team of technical and mechanical engineers, offering guidance, training, and mentorship to ensure exceptional support for our clients in the long term.

In this role, you will lead an established team of mechanical and electrical design engineers through projects spanning RIBA stages 0-7. You will provide technical knowledge and mentorship to engineers at all levels while coordinating resource meetings with design teams weekly. Collaborating with leadership and commercial teams on financial budgets, invoicing, and performance will be essential. Furthermore, you will manage electrical projects from design to construction stage project management while ensuring compliance with British Standards and relevant legislation. Developing strong relationships within your team for effective leadership is key as well as implementing QA procedures for all projects.

The ideal candidate for this position should possess at least 15 years of design experience in construction and renewable projects along with experience leading design teams across various sectors. Proficiency in project management of building services design projects including CDM regulations is required. Knowledge of design calculation software packages such as AutoCAD, Dialux, and Trimble Amtech is essential. Additionally, candidates should hold professional qualifications at least up to Higher National Certificate Level with ideally professional registration with CIBSE and/or IET or working towards Chartered Engineer status.

• At least 15 years Design experience on construction and renewable projects design
• Experience of working / leading design teams on projects across all sectors
• Experience in project management of building services design projects
• Professionally qualified to at least Higher National Certificate Level
• Ideally professionally registered with CIBSE and/or IET
• Ideally a Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership status

• Lead an established team of mechanical and electrical design engineers on projects through the RIBA stages 0-7
• Hold weekly resource meetings with the mechanical and electrical design teams
• Provide mentorship and career development plans for the building services team on an annual basis
• Interviews and recruitment of engineers where applicable / required

• Design calculation software packages such as AutoCAD, Dialux, Trimble Amtech
• Good working knowledge of industry regulations design and installations
