As a key member of the executive team, reporting directly to the CEO, the Vice President of Engineering will play a crucial role in leading the company through its transition from Research and Development to Product Development and Commercialization. With an expected doubling of the current engineering headcount over the next year, this position requires someone with both technical expertise and exceptional leadership skills to manage and inspire a high-performance team.
The VP of Engineering will be tasked with overseeing engine and generator development programs, providing technical direction, management, and leadership to designers, engineers, technicians, machinists, and contractors in a fast-paced environment. In addition to managing day-to-day operations, responsibilities include co-authoring technical papers and proposals as well as engaging with existing and potential customers. The ideal candidate will have experience in rotary/diesel engine development, heavy fuel engine calibration expertise, and knowledge of power generation electronics. Previous experience working with government agencies or leading startups/small companies would be advantageous.
The successful candidate for this role should possess excellent team/people skills with a collaborative approach. They must be decisive, proactive, and capable of foreseeing opportunities and challenges. Strong presentation skills are essential for interactions with various stakeholders. A background in Mechanical Engineering at the BS level is required, with an MSME or Ph.D. preferred. Proficiency in software such as SolidWorks, Labview, Mastercam, Converge, Matlab, GT Suite, ANSYS is necessary for this position.
